Educational Visits

Christ Church Primary SW9 children take part in a wide range of activities in our local and wider community, including participation in Sporting, Arts, and Musical events and performances, and Church events, and have many exciting visits, and themed whole school days. In school, educational experiences are also provided by watching visiting theatre companies and listening to professional visitors.

Educational Visits
Some example of visits to support and enhance the curriculum have included:

Museum of London
As part of their topic on ‘The Fire of London’, Year 2 visited the Museum of London to take part in a dramatized workshop on the sequence of events leading up to the start of the fire in the bakery.

Residential
During the Spring term, our Year 4 pupils are offered an ‘outdoor and adventurous’ residential visit. Learning outside of the classroom is most effective when it’s fun, outdoor adventure activities which encourage the development of social and communication skills. Team building, resilience, self-confidence, a breath of fresh air and making memories to last a lifetime. Our typical visit consists of 3 days with a two night stay over.

Buddhist Temple
As part of our ongoing work to broaden our pupil’s experiences, our Year 3 children enjoyed a visit to a local Buddhist temple, as part of their RE studies. This visit provided the children with the opportunity to speak to different faith practitioners, as they learn more about the history and development of worship thus deepening their understanding of the world in which they live.

London Zoo
Year 1 and 2 visited the zoo linked to their topics on animals from around the world and Antarctica.

London Connected Learning Centre (CLC)
Year groups from across the school have either visited the CLC centre in Clapham Common or have had an in school workshop. The children have been had opportunities to develop their coding and programming skills using the latest software and technology. This includes using green screen to create short movies, programming robots and creating animations using Scratch2 on the computer.
