As a school with a large amount of natural outdoor space, we are in a fantastic position to be able to provide high quality learning outdoors and as a result promote children's health and emotional well-being.
The power of outdoor learning as a complement to general classroom learning is being recognised more than ever before, and we are delighted to be an advocate for this movement.
Part of our outside space has been set aside for children to grow vegetables and fruit.
We believe children need to have first-hand experience about where food comes from and the effort it takes to get it to our tables.
At Christ Church we also have close links with Forest Schools.
This organisation aims to maximise opportunities for children to learn in an outdoor setting, providing an excellent alternative approach to complement classroom learning.
A Forest Schools project begins with pupils being introduced to outdoor learning within the school grounds, ensuring they are made comfortable in woodland surroundings.
The next stage of the process involves pupils going on regular visits to our very own, custom-made Forest Schools site in a local woodland area.
This allows pupils to study woodland flora, take part in creative art activities and work on their teamwork skills in a safe, secure environment.
