The Pupil Premium is funding allocated by the government to address the current underlying inequalities between children qualifying for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers.
The aim of this funding is to provide opportunities for those pupils who are disadvantaged due to circumstances.
Schools have the responsibility of deciding how this funding is used as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.
Schools are also held accountable for how this additional funding is used to support the learning and achievement of pupils from families facing economic difficulties.
